Summer Break 2010
Posted on 08.18.2010 | Filed as Bulletin
As most of you know, Kathy and I try to take time away from the pressure and stress of running the ministry a couple of times each year, as God provides the means. For a few summers, we had the privilege of escaping to the home of friends here in town while they visited family in Canada. (We weren’t able to do this last year because these friends were not able to take their annual trip up north.) Once again this year, we have been invited to spend roughly a week at this house, which features, among other things, an in-ground swimming pool. This escape is a wonderful way for the entire family to step away from everyday life, reconnect with each other, and just enjoy ourselves as we do some fun, summery things together. We are especially appreciative for our vacation this year, as we are still recovering from our trip to China and its aftermath, as we continue to assimilate our new son into his new family, and as we prepare for the grueling schedule of surgeries and medical procedures waiting for us in the fall.
So, we are writing to let you know that we will be shutting down the ministry for roughly a week and a half, from August 27 through the Labor Day weekend. We will be back for regular “business” on Tuesday, September 7. Note that most of our staff volunteers will continue working during this time; it’s just that the offices of TSC will be shut down. As usual, if during that time there are any items of an imperative nature that simply can’t wait till we return, you can write to and someone will respond.
We are praising God for providing, once again, this opportunity for our family. We feel that these little breaks, while not essential, are very helpful in renewing our ability both to parent our children well and to run this ministry effectively.
